The Greater Pensacola Seminole Club (GPSC) kicked off the 2021 Florida State football season in true Seminole fashion on Thursday evening, August 26, 2021, at Phineas Phogg’s at Seville Quarter in downtown Pensacola!
With nearly 110 passionate Seminole fans, alumni, friends, and supporters in attendance, it was an exciting evening filled with great conversation, FSU football insight, Seminole spirit, and plenty of anticipation for the season ahead.
The evening began with a fun and energetic networking and social hour, giving everyone an opportunity to reconnect with fellow Seminoles, meet new friends, and enjoy the camaraderie that makes the GPSC community so special.
We were honored to welcome Keith Cottrell, Director of Seminole Boosters, who opened the program and introduced Shannon Libbert, a member of the FSU Alumni Association National Board of Directors. Shannon shared a few words with the group before GPSC President David Forte welcomed everyone and recognized our event sponsor, Deluna Coffee, for their support.
🏈 All Things FSU Football
The excitement really picked up when David introduced our featured football guests, Jeff Cameron and Corey Clark of Warchant.com. Jeff and Corey brought an incredible amount of knowledge, personality, and insight to the evening as they discussed all things Florida State football.
Their conversation covered what they had been seeing both on and off the field, including their observations of the coaches, players, team development, and the overall direction of the football program. Their candid perspectives gave attendees plenty to think about—and plenty to talk about!
Keith Cottrell then took the microphone and led an engaging Q&A session, giving guests the opportunity to ask Jeff and Corey their own questions and dig even deeper into the state of the Seminole football program.
🍢 Inside FSU Athletics & NIL
David then welcomed our featured speaker, Jim Curry, Associate Athletics Director & Football Oversight, who provided attendees with an inside look at the FSU Athletic Department, along with important updates and insight into the rapidly evolving NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) framework.
Jim’s presentation provided a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing college athletics and Florida State, followed by another excellent Q&A session moderated by Keith.
The evening concluded with a final panel Q&A featuring Jim Curry, Jeff Cameron, and Corey Clark, giving our guests one last opportunity to ask questions and hear directly from three individuals with unique perspectives on Florida State Athletics and football.
🎟️ And Then… The Giveaways!
Of course, no GPSC event would be complete without a little excitement!
David Forte returned to the stage to announce the winner of our Jacksonville State game tickets raffle and the winner of our 72-inch FSU Spear silent auction. There were definitely some happy Seminoles in the room!
David and Keith closed out the evening by thanking everyone who attended, our speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the event such a tremendous success.
Nearly 110 Seminoles came together. Great conversations. Great speakers. Great FSU football insight. Great food and fellowship. And, most importantly, GREAT Seminole spirit!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the 2021 Greater Pensacola Seminole Club Annual Football Kickoff such a memorable evening.
To everyone who joined us—THANK YOU for being part of the Seminole family! And if you couldn’t make it this year, we hope you’ll join us at one of our future GPSC events.
